Before & After: Park Grove

May 6, 2018

This 25 year old home was built in 1993 and the Tuscan style influences and hues of paint had this home stuck in the 90s.

Before: The 1990s color pallet featured terra cotta and earthy red paint tones, a brass and crystal Venetian chandelier, and light wood and white ceramic tile floors which made this house outdated. After: The formal dining room walls have been painted a more neutral gray color, an updated traditional oil rubbed bronze light fixture was added, and the stair railings were updated from white to iron and wood.

The home features a spacious open floor plan which was accentuated with the continuous floors and paint color. The walls have been painted a more updated gray color with a light blue undertone and the homeowner placed all new dark hardwood flooring throughout.

Before: The formal living area appeared small due to contrasting finishes and tones from the floor and paint. After: This formal living area now appears more spacious with the continuation of floor finishes and neutral paint colors. The light fixture has been updated with a transitional ceiling fan.

Before: The kitchen and casual dining area featured beige and rustic gold paint colors, white ceramic tile floors, and an ornate light fixture.

After: In the casual dining area the light fixture was replaced with a more relaxed and simplistic bronze light fixture with glass shades. In the second living space, the original white mantle was classic, so the homeowners chose to update the fireplace with a more modern black and metallic tile fireplace surround.

The after photos show the home updated and re-listed after previously sitting on the market with little interest and no offers. Updates and staging helped this home to sell less than five days on the market, with multiple offers, and $16,000 over asking price.
